New to the Catholic Church?

If you are interested in becoming Catholic, we invite you to learn more about our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program.

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), formerly known as RCIA, is the process through which adults are welcomed into the Catholic Church. It is intended for those who have never been baptized, those baptized in another Christian tradition who now seek full communion with the Catholic Church, and baptized Catholics who have not yet received First Eucharist or Confirmation. OCIA is a journey of faith, involving prayer, learning, reflection, and participation in the life of the Church.

The process unfolds gradually over several months and includes distinct stages marked by liturgical rites. Participants, accompanied by sponsors and guided by catechists, learn about Catholic beliefs, Scripture, liturgy, and Christian living. OCIA typically culminates in the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist—at the Easter Vigil. However, the emphasis is on each individual’s personal readiness and relationship with Christ.
