Sharing is a Two-way Street
The parishoners of St. John of the Cross are incredibly generous in providing financial support to our six Sharing Parishes. In turn, we are blessed by their appreciation and joy in being in relationship with us. Sharing is always a two-way proposition.
Bill Bright, Outreach Director, is the overall coordinator for the contacts with our five Sharing Parishes. Bill relates to St. Mark’s (near Division and Western). Deacon John Schopp is the contact for Mary, Queen of Heaven (in Cicero) and Anne Marie Calistro is the contact for St. Thaddeus (in Chicago near 9500 south and Halsted). Katie Hayes stays in touch with Our Lady of Perpetual Help (in Kentucky) with the work tours through Crossroads and Rose Horvath is the contact with Holy Family parish (in Mississippi). Additionally, a team headed up by Gerry Moran works with Holy Cross parish in Jinja, Uganda.
Most recently, about 300 SJC parishioners signed 50th Anniversary cards for St. Thaddeus. A small group of parishioners, along with Fathers Dowdle and Hynes and Bill Bright, delivered those cards to St. Thaddeus and took part in the parish’s anniversary mass and lunch, along with Bishop Raymond Goedert, on November 8.
In the Spring of 2010, SJC will be inviting several of our sharing parishes to share their stories with us.
You can help our Sharing Parishes financially with a contribution in the the monthly Sharing Parishes envelopes. On occasion, SJC members also provide “people power” for special projects at these parishes. If you would like to help with one of these special projects, or would like to know more about any of these parishes, please contact:
